| Margaret Hallett , The Artist and Painter Accomplished local Victoria BC artist works in oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel and charcoal. Features work which is of a versatile subject matter from personal portraits of animals and humans, landscapes, seascapes and beautiful women. She has a reputation over the years for her caricatures, with many pieces being published and retailed in the form of hasty notes, Christmas cards and on other formats by such firms as Austin Marshall and Wilsons. She is also known for her political cartoons submitted to local newspapers. Margaret Hallett's art career spans over 60 years from her beginning work as a commercial fashion ad illustrator to her late 60’s and early 70’s fine art work appearing in the Victoria Art Gallery. She has recently returned to her passion for watercolor painting and has created over 150 new works in the last year (2003-2004) and has a scheduled showing of her work at the Empress Hotel in the Fall of 2004 in Victoria B.C. |
